London Escapades & Mini Haul!

14.5.15

Ello ello! It does feel weird to be writing on here again.. Now and then I feel myself quite unmotivated to blog and recently I've been feeling that in quite a big way. After bagging myself a bit of a promotion in work I was feeling a bit in out of my depth, but now I've decided it's time to put pen to paper once more! (Or fingers to keyboard if you will.)

There's no denying that when you work in The Body Shop, there are certain perks to the job. Last week I was lucky enough to be invited to London to work at some of the Beauty Truth's events in conjunction with Elle, Cosmopolitan, Red and Good Housekeeping. I was embarrassingly excited. But that was mostly because my blogging idol and the most hilarious woman ever Caroline Hirons was going to be there. My first event was titled 'Ultimate Beauty Truths' and welcomed an amazing panel of experts there to guide us with all things skincare. As you can imagine I was in heaven and even managed to pick up some tips and tricks myself! (Hint: Two-step cleansing and layering night time skincare are Caroline's most important tips! You're welcome.) I also worked a breakfast event in conjunction with Red entitled 'Get up & Go!' This event was a real confidence boost with a fabulous motivational speaker there to empower all us amazing women.

Before my train back North I decided I had to do some shopping of the beauty blogger kind, which mainly involved visiting MAC and the incredible new Lush on Oxford Street. I was in my element and the service was first class as you'd expect. The new shop is so inviting and there's so much to see and do! My personal favourite was testing out the amazing bath bombs in the many sinks upstairs. So.. what did I buy?

Well since everyone and their dogs is after that 'Kylie Jenner' pout of late, I obviously decided to hop on the bandwagon and I treated myself to a matte lipstick in 'Velvet Teddy' and lip liner in 'Spice.' I'm seriously betraying my old faithful purple lip but they just look so amazing on! And then I ventured to Lush. I did buy a bit more than intended but the smells and exclusive products just overwhelmed me. We'll start with the more mundane products first and that includes two shower gels and a soap. I'm a sucker for a neutral fragrance (thank you eczema) so I went for 'It's Raining Men' which is a delish honey and rose oil shower cream. I then decided I wanted to smell like a Polo so chose 'Dirty Springwash', a menthol and spearmint shower gel. I also picked up an exfoliating soap that smells a little bit like 'Snow Fairy' - my favourite scent, called 'The Mechanic.'

Sticking with the mint theme I then treated myself to the 'Intergalactic' bath bomb, minty and based on Guardians of the Galaxy. So me, being a complete Marvel nerd had to buy it. I also treated my flatmate to the 'Cyanide Pill' as she's a fan of woody and lemon smells. (And I'm lovely.) Finally in Lush I repurchased my favourite lipscrub in 'Popcorn' and something from the updated make-up collection.. Unsurprisingly a purple lipstick in 'Dare.' I can't wait to put this to the test as I'm always on the look out for cruelty free make-up!

So that's me, I was only in London for 24 hours but I sure made the most of it. Bravo if you've read this whole post. It was a chatty one! Aisling. xo

  1. The Rose Oil shower cream and popcorn lipscrub sound so good, I may have to pick those up myself soon! That purple lipstick is such a nice shade too!
