Beauty | Rimmel Scandaleyes Gel Liner.

19.9.14

I actually can’t believe I’m writing this post after swearing to myself that I’d never give in to the gel liner hype. Oh how wrong I was…

Although I had been on a spending ban I happened to be Boots one afternoon and noticed that the Rimmel Scanaleyes Gel Liner was on offer at around £4 or something ridiculous. As usual, my crappy will power failed me once again and I bought it. I don’t have anything against gel liner but I’ve always loved liquid and had great results so I thought - if it ain’t broke why fix it? Well – I can safely say I’m a convert. I apply this with my Real Techniques Silicon Liner brush and I can’t get over how amazing my winged liner is! The product came with a brush, but for me it wasn’t great as I like a really thin, winged line. They (my flicks) are perfect every time and I find the product much easier to control than liquid. It lasts all day and doesn’t flake off, and I love that you can use it in the upper water line for a more intense look. Although sometimes I find it can transfer to the bottom water line which is a slight bummer, but for £4 who can complain?

The packaging for this claimed that it was waterproof so I put this to the ultimate test by wearing it to see ‘The Fault In Our Stars.’ I cried, a lot. And I’m sorry to say when I came out bleary eyed, the liner was kind of smudgy and down my face. In saying this I’m pretty sure I cried for an hour straight. Maybe if it was just a slight touch of water it might be okay. (Okay?) But I decided not to put it to the test again.

As far as the over all gel liner experience goes I am impressed! I can definitely see myself repurchasing this as I’m simply in love with the winged liner looks I can achieve! Have you tried gel liner yet? xo

  1. I really like the look of this but the process of application is a bit daunting for me since I don't really have a steady hand.

  2. I haven't tried any proper gel eyeliners yet but I'm sure I'd become a convert, too, once I gave it a go (with a proper brush). I think that the TIFOS test was a bit harsh. I mean, what eyeliner would honestly survive that?

  4. I've tried gel liners before but not this one. Good to hear it holds up well, except for the minor smudging after the movie! :] // itsCarmen.com ☼ ☯
