Lifestyle | My Tattoo.

If any of you follow me on my various social platforms you may know that I recently got my first tattoo! And today's quick post is a little bit about it, and why it's special to me.

I had been talking about getting a tattoo for years!.. Okay 1 year, but still it was a long time. And I know all my family thought I was just saying it for attention or to be different and that I'd never actually get one. But I did. I bit the bullet and popped into my local tattoo artists' Anchor and Rose to book an appointment. If you're Northern Ireland based and looking for a tattoo check them out, their work is amazing! The design I wanted was a humpback whale that my amazingly talented friend Stephanie drew for me. I got this because it's my favourite kind of whale and the kind I aspire to help and work with in the future. It represents my whole university experience (I studied Zoology) as well as reminding me of my dream job every day. It means a lot to me and I'm so glad I got it, I still can't believe it's really there! I got it put on the inside of my left ankle as I wanted it to be subtle and easily covered if need be. And although everyone told me it would be 'really painful' it wasn't. A bit sore but not the horror story I was expecting!

I'm in love with it and I'm already planning another - now the problem is deciding what to get! Would you ever get a tattoo? Or have you already got one? I'd love to see any pictures you have that would give me inspiration! xo

Beauty | Autumn Wishlist.

1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. 7. 8.
I don't know about the rest of the world, but the drop in temperature and dark evenings mean that Autumn is well and truly upon us here in Ireland. And with a new season comes a new wish list of beauty items I'm itching to get my hands on! It's conveniently my birthday next month so I compiled a list of some products I'm currently lusting after.

1.The Simpsons Powder Blush in Pink Sprinkles.
Summer is over and I am out with the super glowy, peach toned cheeks and in with the matte, rosy 'I've just got in from a cold day' look. I'm obsessed with pink rosy cheeks (hence the blog name if you'd ever wondered) and autumn is the perfect time of year to rock them! I am also desperate for some of this Simpsons packaging in my collection.

2. NARS Sheer Glow Foundation in Mont Blanc.
Ever since I picked up a Sheer Glow sample I've been determined to get my hands on it. I fell in love with the formula and have been trying to justify purchasing it for longer than I'd care to admit..

3. Hourglass Ambient Lighting Blush in Luminous Flush &
4. Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder in Ethereal Light.
My lust for Hourglass products will not let up. I've been wanting these two products for so long and I am determined to get my hands on them this season. They seem to give the perfect luminous touch to the skin without being too glowy and shiny, something I just don't like for the colder months.

5. Illamasqua Glamore Lipstick in Vampette.
It's a wishlist, and it's me. Of course there had to be some Illamasqua in here. I know I'll be rocking purple lips left, right and centre this season so I'll definitely be needing a new Illamasqua berry-toned lipstick to help me on my way! Plus, this is a satin finish so it's not exactly like my current ones.. I promise.

6. Liz Earle Deep Cleansing Mask.
High end skincare is just something I don't buy often enough. The colder months are always hard on my skin so I'm going to make a real effort to take better care of it this time around.

7. Pixi Glow Tonic.
Every blogger and her dog has been talking about this tonic, and as usual I'm the last on the bandwagon! In keeping with my 'be kind to my skin' mindset I really am going to push the boat out on these beauty buys and I'm so intrigued to see if this lives up to expectations!

8. Zoeva Rose Gold Luxury Set.
Oh my, are these brushes not the most beautiful things you've ever seen? I've been pining after them for such a long time and I've been in dire need of new brushes for ages. I can see a little Zoeva order being placed in the near future, they're so gorgeous.

I feel a little bit depressed now that I don't have all these goodies. But hopefully it won't be too long before I get my hands on them! What do you think of my wish list? Would you like any of the items? xo

OOTD | Last of the Summer Pastels.

For me sunshine means light, bright colours. And even though it is technically September/Autumn now, if the sun's out I whip out the pastels ASAP! I know outfits posts aren't really my thing but I love this skirt from River Island so much and I fear this may be my last chance to rock it! I paired it with this plain chiffon tee from Penneys, one of the most versatile pieces I own. As well as socks from Topshop and my all-time favourite shoes: tan brogues, these ones being from Forever 21. I also took on board the mini-bag trend with the gorgeous pastel pink bag, also from Penneys. I dress this outfit up for a night out with strappy sandals but on sunny days I love to wear it casually! Will you miss the pastel trend? xo

Beauty | Rimmel Scandaleyes Gel Liner.

I actually can’t believe I’m writing this post after swearing to myself that I’d never give in to the gel liner hype. Oh how wrong I was…

Although I had been on a spending ban I happened to be Boots one afternoon and noticed that the Rimmel Scanaleyes Gel Liner was on offer at around £4 or something ridiculous. As usual, my crappy will power failed me once again and I bought it. I don’t have anything against gel liner but I’ve always loved liquid and had great results so I thought - if it ain’t broke why fix it? Well – I can safely say I’m a convert. I apply this with my Real Techniques Silicon Liner brush and I can’t get over how amazing my winged liner is! The product came with a brush, but for me it wasn’t great as I like a really thin, winged line. They (my flicks) are perfect every time and I find the product much easier to control than liquid. It lasts all day and doesn’t flake off, and I love that you can use it in the upper water line for a more intense look. Although sometimes I find it can transfer to the bottom water line which is a slight bummer, but for £4 who can complain?

The packaging for this claimed that it was waterproof so I put this to the ultimate test by wearing it to see ‘The Fault In Our Stars.’ I cried, a lot. And I’m sorry to say when I came out bleary eyed, the liner was kind of smudgy and down my face. In saying this I’m pretty sure I cried for an hour straight. Maybe if it was just a slight touch of water it might be okay. (Okay?) But I decided not to put it to the test again.

As far as the over all gel liner experience goes I am impressed! I can definitely see myself repurchasing this as I’m simply in love with the winged liner looks I can achieve! Have you tried gel liner yet? xo

Beauty | Rosepout by Illamasqua.

Okay okay I know what you’re thinking... ‘Change the record Ash. Another Illamasqua product?’ But indulge me... My will power just NEVER works when it comes to this brand. If you know me at all you’ll know that when it comes to make-up I’m pretty faithful to my standard matte red and purple lips. So never in a million years did I think I’d be writing about a nude satin lipstick that I love… And yep. I said nude.

There seems to be a general pattern emerging when Illamasqua launch a new collection and it goes a little like this:

New collection launch è Aisling obsesses è Aisling’s bank balance eventually takes a hit.

Although this is the general routine I honestly didn’t think I’d be that fussed abut the Nude Glamore launch. Nudes just ain’t weren’t my thing. That was until I stepped in store and the gorgeous makeup and my slight hangover over whelmed be and I knew I had to have something, I’ve only owned one nude lippy before and I didn’t really like it so I knew I’d have to talk to someone. As usual the staff in the Liverpool store were amazing, sitting me down and talking me through the colours, applying each to see how I felt about it. I opted for Rosepout, a neutral pink brown with a satin finish. This shade is a few shades lighter than my own lip tone so it was a big shock to the system. But I have to say I really love it. It’s perfect for everyday wear (unlike my deep purples and loud reds) so I already know I got my moneys worth. I’m also loving this shade as it allows me to really go crazy with my smoky eyes as I don’t have to worry about it being ‘too much’ (aka. clown face.)

The formula is the same as my previous Glamore shade in ‘Glissade’, creamy and glides on the lips like a dream. (No dry lips for me!) The satin finish means it is more likely to transfer if you’re not careful. But even if there is a slight transfer the colour remains opaque, which is fine by me! If you follow me on Twitter and Instagram you'll have seen me bumming this lippy up a-lot already. I just can't get enough!

So there we have it; a glowing review of a nude. I never thought I’d see the day! Illamasqua you can do no wrong. Do you wear nudes or are you more of a bright lip lover? xo

D.I.Y. | Picture Collage.

I can't believe I'm even attempting a D.I.Y post but here it goes! There's nothing I love more than giving someone a home made gift. Going out and choosing something lovely to give to a friend is brilliant, but it's nice to put a little extra effort in for those people who mean something special to you. I first made one of these picture collages for a friend when i was 18! And I'm pretty sure I've made one for majority of my close friends since (if I haven't and you're reading this chummies - yours is coming!)

So first up what do you need? Well the main part of this is a clear frame, that can be any size you want. I really pushed the boat out with my ASDA SmartPrice one.. but it does the job! Next up you need some pictures of you and your loved one, some glue and some scissors.

And I guess the rest is self explanatory. Just lay out the pictures in an organised way, attempting to cover all space in the frame. I usually need to alter some of the pictures which is where the scissors come in handy! When you're happy with the arrangement of the pictures glue them down in place. Pop the glass cover back on and boom. A quick, easy and thoughtful present all for under a fiver! I really love these as gifts as they're so personal! And I know all my friends who have received them have loved them too!

Quite possibly the easiest D.I.Y post ever but hey I gotta ease myself in right? Happy collaging! xo

PS: Sorry Charlotte Lennon for showcasing your collage on this page, now the world has seen our drunken snaps! x

Blogs I Love | #1

One of my favourite things about blogging, apart from the creative outlet it gives me, is the social aspect. Never in my life did I think there were so many girls out there as crazy about make-up as me, I mean sure, my friends like make-up and beauty but I love it. So when one day 'Rosy Smiles' popped into my head I never knew I'd end up with a list of blogs I now can't go a week without checking up on, and a group of girls who I now class as my little 'blog friends'. This post is just to give them some credit as I genuinely love all their work and it gives me those fuzzy feelings to share some blog love!

Believe it or not Lauren was one of the first girls I ever spoke to on this old blogesphere! Both being from Northern Ireland we had a quick run down we realised we have mutual friends - small world eh? Lauren's blog is the perfect mix of beauty and lifestyle and her pictures are awesome. I'm usually super jealous of all her lifestyle posts and her honest opinions mean you know what you're getting with every review. I love this blog and I check up on it regularly to make sure I haven't missed out!
- She also posts on YouTube which I love as it mixes up the usual blog post format, and tweets from @LR_Daydreamer

Okay so not technically a blogger but boy does this lady post some brilliant videos! I got talking to Gillian pretty early on in my blogging adventure and we've been in contact since. She's the only blogger I've met in real life and is such a lovely person! Her videos have the most incredible looks that give me inspiration all the time. And there is no doubt that if you want to incorporate glitter into your look somewhere, Gillian has you covered! Also she may have the biggest MAC collection I have ever seen. You can tweet Gillian on @PurpleGillian.

Alice, Alice, Alice. The girl who inspired me to write this post. I was lucky enough to feature in one of her favourite blogs posts and how could I not return the favour? And no, I'm not just doing it because she did it for me. This girls' blog is amazing. Her beauty and lifestyle posts are fun, well written and honest and you feel like you're just reading from one of your mates. She's recently ventured into fashion which I am buzzing about as she rocks a kimono like no other! Our matte lip obsession knows no bounds and I can always count on her to encourage my bad spending habits! Catch Alice and her ramblings over on @AliceSpake on twitter.

This little blog by Claire popped into my radar not too long ago, and I've been hooked since. Her pictures are actually incredible, so quirky and cute. The posts range from beauty, lifestyle and D.I.Y, to blog tips, recipes and the occasional rant (who doesn't love them, be honest!). You never know what you're going to get from Claire's blog and that's why I love it so much. It's a treat to the eyes to go on her page and it's because of her that I've picked up a few blog tips of my own, as well as some brilliant books to read! Claire tweets from @Fineanddandy, be sure to check her out do you don't miss a post.

And there we have it. A handful of blogs from a rather large list! I don't doubt there will be plenty more of these style posts to come as I love to share the blog love. These 4 are just the ones that I am currently and have been loving for a rather long time and I thought I might like to share them with you! Happy reading. xo

Books | FanGirl

All right my beauties? It's book time again! This month’s book is the amazing FanGirl by Rainbow Rowell. I had never heard of this author before, but after reading a brilliant review of it on 'Fine and Dandy' by the gorgeous Claire I just knew I’d have to check it out. And boy, am I glad I did! Well, being honest I bought this for my sister as a graduation present but she reads even faster than me so I knew it wouldn’t be too long before I got my hands on it!

The book follows a pair of twins, Cath, our shy, introvert narrator and Wren, her out-going adventure seeking sister. They’ve both just moved to college and are in separate bedrooms for the first time ever. Wren is thriving in her new life with her new roommate and plenty of boys, but Cath has been paired with an older, intimidating girl and has to face these struggles alone. Cath’s priority has always been writing her fan fiction and she doesn’t see why college should change this. We follow the girls (mainly Cath) as they go through family struggles, college life and first love(s).

As ever I won’t elaborate too much more as I don’t want to spoil it for any of you but this book is incredible. The story is utterly heartwarming and I personally felt like I related to all the characters in different ways, which is a credit to Rowell’s writing. As the book progresses the characters and their relationships develop beautifully and I personally really cared about what happened to them all! I absolutely loved Cath’s narration. Of the two twins I would describe myself as more of a ‘Wren’ but being inside Cath’s mind was a whole new perspective for me. Rowell really gets how into the Internet a-lot of us are these days, and it hit home that sometimes we are all guilty of spending too much time with our online ‘friends’ and forgetting to live our real lives!

This book was just a complete treat to read – which explains why I did so in about 2 days. Oops! I just could not put it down, and it didn’t even feel like a strain. I’m already thinking about ordering another of Rowell’s books as I’m so impressed by this one, and that is why it’s getting 5/5 from me!

Have you read FanGirl? Or any other of Rainbow Rowells’ books? Xo

PS – Big thanks again to Claire from FineAnd Dandy for bringing this book to my attention! xx
