Fashion | My New Favourite Accessory!

8.8.14

Okay so I know i'm not technically a fashion blogger but I just had to post about my new beauties! Some of you may not know but I actually have quite bad eye-sight and should wear glasses 24/7 (boo). I don't actually adhere to this - mainly because I haven't had new glasses in 5 years and I don't like my old ones that much anymore! But a few weeks ago I finally went and got my eyes re-tested and was told they haven't gotten too much worse, yay! But I still had to get new glasses as the optician told me off for not wearing them.

I don't know if any of you wear glasses but choosing a new pair is one of the hardest decisions ever. They have to:                                                       - contrast your face shape
                            - suit your skin tone
                            - be wearable with anything
                            - suit your eye colour

That's quite a-lot to ask from one little pair of glasses! Prior to my eye-test I knew I wanted a deep frame (think geeky glasses) as all my previous pairs were quite narrow. So after trying on about 30 pairs I settled on a Guess frame that I am slightly in love with. I had originally wanted a tortoise shell frame but unfortunately those ones just didn't suit my face. My Guess glasses are black, with a deep frame and a tortoise shell effect at the sides. Not exactly what I wanted but they won me over with the cat eye feature at the edge. It is so so flattering on my face and I feel amazing when I wear them! Which I guess is a good thing as I have to wear them all the time.

What do you think of my new specs? xo

  2. They suit you so much!
And I absolutely understand your pain - I've worn glasses since the age of 11, so about...12 years now?

But I basically only take mine off when I need to. The rest of the time, they are plastered onto my face as my eyesight isn't great without them (I'm not blind, things just get real fuzzy)

Cat eye frames are ones I'd love to rock, but I don't think I would, which is a pain because they are probably all I'd wear haha.

Whenever I go now, I get a couple of pairs because I can chop and change them depending on my mood, so currently I have the ones I have on now which are tortoise shell, and another pair that are matte black! So cool.

I have a couple of other pairs, but I can't actually wear one pair, as they throw me off balance - I'm even more clumsy in them, than my usual self!

    1. I'm the exact same 12 years! I'm finding it hard to get used to wearing them all the time, my eyes are feeling a bit funny!

Oh matte black sounds lovely! I know I wish the tortoise shell ones had suited me :( I got tortoise shell sunnies so hopefully I can rock them when the suns out! xx

    2. Awesome!

Yeah, once you've worn them a while, it'll be fine - I'm like that every time I get a new pair.

They are lovely, I need to wear them more actually, as I constantly wear the tortoise shell ones.

      Ooooh, they sound lush!

  4. Adorable glasses and they suit you so well!…I'm actually tempted by this style for my next prescription.
Each year my eye-sight gets worse & while I agree on the struggle of choosing I also enjoy the chance to get a new pair, kind of makes feeling slightly blind a little better…well for me anyway.

Yeah I know exactly what you mean! It's a lovely change to have a new pair, I just have to make these last as they cost a pretty penny unfortunately. xxx
