Liverpool Haul!

7.5.14

How many times have I mentioned this Liverpool trip? Countless, sorry loveys! This is my last post about it, promise.. It’s finally time for my haul! I couldn’t blog it as soon as I came home as I bought too much stuff and it wouldn’t fit in my little suitcase. But I posted it and Royal Mail left the parcel of wonderfulness at my door. I didn’t go too crazy although I could have, so here’s a little run down of what I bought!

First up is MAC. If you follow me on twitter (if not, get on it here) you’ll know I was seriously disappointed with the service I got in MAC. I went in with the intention of buying a number of items but left with just 2! The staff were very short with me and acted as though they couldn’t care less. I did manage to pick up an eyeshadow I was looking for. I’ve wanted a matte shade to pair with Mulch (also by MAC) for ages, so the assistant showed me a few shades and I opted for Kid, a beige cashmere colour. I swear she actually looked offended when I asked could I swatch them!
I haven’t had it on my eyes yet but I’m eager to see how it blends with Mulch as I really didn’t get a proper idea in the shop. I also picked up some brush cleaner, which thankfully went down hassle free. Can’t wait to try this either, as I’m constantly shampooing my brushes and sometimes need a quick fix!

Then I went to my favourite shop, Illamasqua. I went with the intention of only buying their sealing gel (a liquid that turns any powder or pigment into a gel liner). But the make-up overwhelmed me and I couldn’t resist buying a new lipstick… and liner to go with it. I bought the lipstick in ‘Growl’, a rich mahogany brown, and the liner in ‘Severity’ a red grape shade. The liner was admittedly a tad extravagant but because I have lots of purple lipsticks I really needed one, I swear. I should also point out that the service in Illamasqua was first class, I had a proper natter with the assistant who asked me how I was, my weekend plans and answered all my questions without a problem.  I didn’t catch his name but he really was a star!

Next up is NARS, which I visited in the Harvey Nichols Beauty Bazaar, aka beauty blogger heaven. I’d been reading so much about NARS and thought it was a bit ridiculous that I didn’t own any! But I’ve fixed that now. After buying lip and eye-products I decided I wanted something face-based. I went for a Multiple in the shade Copacabana. This is a highlighter shade that I thought would give me a fresh summer glow all over my face. The assistant at the stand popped some on my cheekbones and it was lovely so I’m excited to see how it works on the other areas of my face.

It took ALL my might not to buy a lipstick!

I then popped to Boots, I wasn’t really planning on buying this next item but when I saw it I just thought, ‘What the hell?’ I picked up the Silicon Liner Brush by Real Techniques. I knew I needed something to apply my new Sealing Gel with and because I’ve had such success with the other RT brushes I chose it. I've also read lots of good reviews so I knew it was a safe buy.

Waterstones was my next stop on my little shopping trip. I literally love nothing more than wandering around shops alone! I wasn’t planning on buying books, I just wandered in for a nosey. But I love bookshops, they’re so calming and the smell is incredible so it was inevitable that I'd pick up a few. After reading The Book Thief by Markus Zusak and The Fault in Our Stars by John Green I am proper in the mood for some cheesey reading. Although I’m currently reading Death and Sea-World by David Kirby it’s heavy going at times and I feel like I need to read something more light-hearted. Because I loved The Fault in Our Stars so much I went for 'An Abundance of Katherines’, also by John Green. It’s about a boy who wants to find love with a girl named Katherine. It seems really cute and funny and I can’t wait to read it.

Heaven.

I am a firm believer in reading books before seeing films, and this is where the next two purchases came from. I got ‘The Perks of Being a Wallflower’ (I know I’m behind the times) by Stephen Chbosky and 'Divergent' by Veronica Roth. Can’t wait to read these two as I think books are always better than films! Lastly, I bought a book by Neil Gaiman called ‘The Ocean at the End of the Lane’. I bought this as I loved Stardust and he’s also written some Doctor Who episodes (and I am a MASSIVE Who fan – don’t judge me).

I also picked up some clothes, a couple of dresses and jeans but I’m no fashion blogger so I think I’ll leave it there for now! I hope you enjoyed my little haul; I can’t wait to get trying all my new goodies! xo

  5. I see books! :) I'm sorry the visit to MAC was less than pleasant. The one we have near my place is very well-staffed. They all seem to really like their jobs. :)

Is that MAC in Cork I see?!

    1. Haha I think my books obsession is up there with cosmetics! I know I was so disappointed, I don't think I've ever been happy with service in MAC if I'm honest! I'll have to keep looking ha!

No it's the MAC in the Metquarter in Liverpool, it's a really posh shopping centre so I'm not too surprised they're snobby ! xx
